What is eHealth?

eHealth (abbreviation for "electronic health") is a term describing the application of information and communication technology in the treatment of diseases and advancement of health.
eHealth technologies aim at improving the patient's health or enable him/her to have more control over his/her health status. The applications are intended to improve the patient's information about his/her disease and to provide an easier contact to physicians or other patients and, thus, to support their daily life.
There are many different forms and benefits of eHealth applications for patients that go beyond using web pages or common services.
In the part "What can eHealth do for you" you will find different examples on eHealth applications and how you can benefit from using them.
